Worth the Hype? || Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Radiant Creamy Concealer

I recently got my hands on the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (£31) and Radiant Creamy Concealer (£22) so they seemed the perfect way to continue my 'worth the hype?' beauty series.

The thing to bear in mind with base products is that whether they work for you depends on your skin type and what your concerns are. For me, I have really bad dark circles that no amount of eye cream improves! I'm prone to facial shine as well. I was tempted to buy the Sheer Matte version as I was scared the 'glow' would equate to shine on me, but I had no such problems! A light touch of powder in the morning is enough to keep my skin looking glowing but shine-free. I really like the formula and think it does look good on. It's also really nice and build-able so if you're looking for a day-to-night product, check it out. However I find that (weirdly) it seems to emphasise any little hairs on my face. And I'm not even someone who struggles with face hair problems!

It really bothers me that a £31 foundation comes without a pump. And although I saw it is only an extra £3, I'm struggling to find it in stock anywhere. The colour is a little lighter than I'd usually go for. I have Stromboli but I think when Spring comes I will probably buy Barcelona and mix the two. I do feel though that I should be able to find a perfect match for that price. The bottom line is that it looks good on but it isn't without its flaws.

As for the concealer; it's a clear winner for me. Is it worth the price over some of the drugstore creamy concealer offerings? You'll have to wait for my 'save or spend?' to find out! Is it a great product in itself? YES!

Honestly NOTHING has ever disguised my dark circles like this product has and the shade Ginger is perfect for blemishes as well. It doesn't cake or crease under my eyes at all. When I first tried it I wasn't bowled over because I applied my powder straight after and they kind of caked together; the trick is to let it 'dry' before going in with the powder. A light application of powder is more than enough for me and my eyes are very oily. It stays in place all day and it blends in perfectly with this foundation especially but also looks fab with all the one's I've tried it with. Basically, it's everything I've ever wanted from a concealer!

                               NO MAKEUP                                                               SHEER GLOW ONLY

CONCEALER ADDED                                                  FULL FACE OF MAKEUP

So are they worth the hype?: the concealer definitely is for me, the foundation is more of a 'maybe'

Have you tried either of these Nars products or do you think they're just to pricey? Do you think they were worth the hype?

  2. You look so pretty and I am completely sold! I have been dying to try the NARS Sheer Glow and Concealer but like you, I was a little sceptical with the name Sheer Glow because my skin tends to be shiny/oily but I may give it a try....I just have to wait for my birthday!!!...Lovely review as always!!!

  3. What a coincidence! I posted a full review of NARS Sheer Glow on Tuesday. I personally really like it and I am yet to find a foundation that has the same natural yet flawless finish. It looks great on you as it makes your skin tone look more even without hiding your freckles. Is there a foundation you prefer over this one? I always like trying new things. I bought the Fit me concealer this weekend, I heard it's similar to the NARS Radiant concealer.

  4. I literally ordered these this morning for my mum's Christmas present! Although, I took a risk. We don't have any Nars counters near us so I've had to guess completely and hope!!

  5. Personally I think they're both overpriced and a bit rubbish :( Such a shame because it was a big waste of money for me.

  7. This is one of the foundations that I have been considering, I am scared with the "sheer glow" title because I like a medium coverage that hasn't got glitter particles in it. Great post x

    1. Yeah it definitely doesn't have glitter or anything shiny in it :) it's just 'glow-y' in that you look quite bright and radiant when you use it xx

  8. I've wanted to try this concealer for such a long time now. I've heard amazing things about it. The price definitely puts me off though, I have too many products in my collection to justify spending that much at the minute! x

  11. I have been thinking about this duo for such a long time now, I guess I just need to get some samples soon and try them out. I love how natural the foundation looks on you and think the concealer makes such a difference, my dark circles would love it for sure! Shame that it doesn't come with a pump for that price x

    1. The staff at Nars were really helpful and decanted a couple of shades for me to try and there was enough for me to sample each shade for a couple of days :) and all the concealers match to the foundations so you don't have to worry about that! xx

  12. Sheer Glow is my fave foundation! Lasts so long and my colour is fortunately a perfect match. I've been contemplating picking up the concealer for a while, it looks really good on you so I have now made up my mind and I'm going to get it ;) xx

  13. The NARS foundation is so raved about that I really want to try it but I'm sure I will need to get a sample first because for the price it has to be really amazing for me to buy it :) It gives you lovely natural coverage though :) x

  16. Even though 'Sheer glow' is meant to be for drier skin types it doesn't go well with my skin - it doesn't blend in and just goes patchy for some reason. I do however love the Creamy Concealer - it's a bit heavy under my eyes but for redness it's a dream!

  18. I'm a huge fan of the Sheer Glow Foundation, although i'm yet to try the Creamy Concealer, i'm a little unsure as to whether I can justify the money, or even afford that price on a regular basis at the moment! Definitely will have to try it at some point though!
